Not A Martyr
While exploring TouchDesigner’s video processing capabilities, I created several music videos using a custom video effects engine driven by Ableton Live. Live provided timecode for synchronization and sent MIDI data to control various parameters in TouchDesigner. While my previous videos explored visual abstraction, for this project I wanted to apply what I had learned to create a more narrative-driven piece.
Early tests.
Since I couldn’t operate both puppets simultaneously, I filmed them separately and used TouchDesigner for real-time visualization and blocking. The process involved recording one character, importing the footage into TouchDesigner as a reference, and simultaneously using a live camera feed for real-time alignment while filming the second character.
The process involved multiple iterations, much like the workflow of a 3D animated film, constantly tweaking parameters and refining the look with each pass.
